FAQs

  • What kind of trails can be hiked?

Canyonlands has a variety of hikes for all levels, with some suitable for pets and families. Choose from more than a dozen hiking trails ranging from 0.8 miles to 3.27 miles. Difficulty ranges from easy to challenging and you’ll see views including panoramas of the Colorado River to rock pinnacles, the Moab Valley, and the La Sal Mountains. Mesa Arch Trail and Grand View Arch are the most popular.
  • What kind of weather can I expect in the winter?

In winter the temperatures at Canyonlands often plunge below freezing. Late fall, winter and early spring bring the danger of hypothermia. If you are hiking in winter wear extra clothing layers and be ready for bad weather with waterproof outerwear. Bring a flashlight and be extra cautious when hiking in snow. Even a small snowfall can hide trails and signs.
