Dead Horse Point State Park: Hiking, Biking & Adventure

Experience panoramic views of the most photographed vistas in Utah including colorful canyons, rock formations and the Colorado River. See the plateau where cowboys used to herd wild horses and marvel at the majestic pinnacles and buttes of the Canyonlands. This beautiful park offers many hiking trails that pet friendly,ranging from easy to difficult. Ranger-led tours explore off-the-beaten path wonders. Pedal and soar through spectacular scenery and wind through the rocks on The Intrepid Trail System, a fun and thrilling way to experience Moab mountain biking for any fitness level.

  • Are there any fees associated with visiting the park? Is there a Visitors Center?

    There is an entrance fee of $10 per vehicle (up to eight passengers). The Visitors Center is open year-round. (March-Oct: Hours 8am-6pm daily; Oct-March: 9am-5pm daily.) At the Visitors Center you’ll find an information area, restrooms, water, exhibits, regional publications, tourist information and souvenirs. The Pony Expresso Coffee Shop serves snacks, sandwiches, drinks and ice cream.
  • How far is the park from Moab? Where are the best hiking trails?

    Dead Horse Point State Park is 32 miles northwest of Moab. Take US 191 for nine miles and then drive 23 miles on Utah 313. The drive takes about 45 minutes. The most scenic hiking trails are found along the east and west rims of the park and vary in difficulty. Many of the trails are pet-friendly. An easy paved trail leads to some of the park’s most scenic views. Ranger-led hikes are available in the spring and summer and monthly full moon hikes are offered. Hikers are also permitted on the Intrepid Trail System.
